City secured a place in the Champions League final with a breath-taking victory over current holders Real Madrid

Pep Guardiola's side completed an incredible 4-0 win in a pulsating second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid beat Manchester City 4-3 on penalties to advance to the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday.

The match was tied 2-2 after regulation and extra time, with City winning 4-3 on aggregate.

Karim Benzema scored the winning penalty for Real Madrid, while Riyad Mahrez missed for City.

It was a dramatic end to a pulsating match, which saw City take the lead twice through Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus.

But Real Madrid fought back both times, with Benzema and Vinicius Junior scoring the equalizers.

In the penalty shootout, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved two penalties, from Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan.

Real Madrid will now face Liverpool in the semifinals, while City's hopes of winning the Champions League for the first time are over.
